Did you know there are TWO delicious, golden “super spices” that have been treasured for almost 5,000 years by traditional Indian (Ayurvedic) and Chinese medicine?

 

The first one’s healing properties are due to curcumin—turmeric’s main medicinal component.

 

A 2018 study by UCLA scientists concluded that turmeric (curcumin) “improved memory and mood in people with mild, age-related memory loss.

 

Research participants between the ages of 50 to 90, who did not have Alzheimer’s but who experienced mild memory decline, were given twice-daily doses of 90 mg of curcumin.

 

This rigorous 18-month, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, published in the American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, found that adults taking curcumin daily not only improved their mood but also achieved a 28% improvement in their memory testing.

 

Adults who took daily curcumin also had “significantly less” amyloid and tau plaques in the amygdala and hypothalamus (brain regions that control memory and emotional functions) than those who took placebos. 

 

That is extremely important because these plaques are known components of Alzheimer’s affected brains.

 

Researchers believe these benefits were due to curcumin having anti-amyloid (anti-plaque) properties, on top of its already well-studied and proven anti-inflammatory benefits.

 

In fact, curcumin is even more effective than the most prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs: aspirin, ibuprofen, and diclofenac!

 

Curcumin’s supreme antioxidant properties reduce oxidative stress, which, in turn, reduces inflammation.

 

But there is a second delicious, golden “super spice”

 

Like turmeric, ginger also contains high anti-inflammatory properties and is proven to reduce oxidative stress. As well, ginger is known for improving memory and reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression.

A 2011 placebo-controlled study published in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine gave daily doses of ginger to 60 women and found that their memories and cognitive function were improved.

Several studies have found that the combination of turmeric and ginger had even MORE anti-inflammatory effects than when both are used individually.
