Watch out! This common intestinal parasite increases the risk of suicide sevenfold

Researchers have linked a common, hard-to-detect intestinal parasite to a 700%  increased risk for attempting suicide. Meaning, a person with this parasite is seven more times likely to try to kill themselves.

This same parasite is also connected to schizophrenia, anxiety, and depression.

The really scary part? You and your loved ones may already be infected, and have no clue.

The WHO (-World Health Organization) recognizes this parasite is present in every country.

According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), 60 million Americans over the age of 6 are already infected.

They also report that in some countries this parasite has infected up to 90% of the population. Some believe a third of the world’s population is infected.

It is reported that as many as 80% of those infected show no outward symptoms. And those who do, may only present mild flu-like symptoms.

So what is this parasite and how do you get it?

We’re talking about Toxoplasma gondii. This stealthy, single-celled organism (protozoa) causes a disease called toxoplasmosis. The parasite passes from host to humans, where it forms cysts — usually in your brain, skeletal muscle, myocardium (heart muscle), and even your eyes (retina).

And, it’s really easy to become infected...

How do you get toxoplasmosis (Toxoplasma gondii)?

One of the most common ways of getting this potentially damaging parasite has to do with exposure to feline feces (cat poop).

...But toxoplasmosis is not limited to only those who have a cat at home…

These parasites can get into:

  • The water supply,

  • Playground Sandboxes,

  • Gardens and lawns,

  • Fresh produce (Fruits and vegetables),

  • Not applying proper hand washing techniques.

  • And of course though handling a litter box

Anything that cat feces comes into contact with can become a carrier of this parasite.

Another common source of this parasite is through eating contaminated meat that is not thoroughly cooked. The most frequent sources of this type of contamination are pork, shellfish, lamb, and venison.

Whenever you eat undercooked meat, the parasite can pass into your system. Even if you are amongst the most vigilant in your own home, when you dine at a restaurant, do you really know if your food was prepared carefully and free of cross contamination from other uncooked meat? Or even if hand washing was done properly or neglected all together by those handling your food from kitchen to table?

The parasite could be passed on to you in a variety of ways.

So how do you know if you have toxoplasmosis (Toxoplasma gondii)?

Unfortunately, you may NOT know...

When you suspect a health condition, you go to the doctor and get tested, right? However, due to the general nature of the symptoms, even those  who DO manifest symptoms may not connect them to a parasite.

Such symptoms include:

  • Headache

  • Body aches

  • Fatigue

  • Fever

  • Swollen lymph nodes

The test for toxoplasmosis is an antibodies test — checking to see if your body has developed defenses against a specific organism or disease.Unfortunately, these tests for toxoplasmosis and T. gondii can be inconclusive.

You could have a false-negative test but still be infected. This can be due to the fact that tests for antibodies are notoriously difficult to interpret... or because when you are tested you are so early in the infection stages that you have not yet developed antibodies.

If you have a compromised immune system, have had a recent organ transplant, or if you are undergoing chemotherapy, for example, you could experience more severe symptoms:

  • Seizures

  • Coordination problems

  • Confusion

  • Headache

  • Blurred vision

  • Encephalitis

  • Lung problems that resemble tuberculosis or pneumonia

The world-renowned Mayo Clinic states that Pregnant women in particular need to be aware and cautious. If you are infected for the first time just before becoming or while pregnant, the infection can be passed to your unborn baby.

Pregnancies where a mother passes Toxoplasma gondii to her child may end in stillbirth or miscarriage. Surviving infants, are at high risk of being born with serious problems, like:

  • Jaundice

  • Enlarged liver and spleen

  • Severe eye infections

  • Seizures

Only a few babies born with toxoplasmosis show immediate signs of infection. More often it’s not until their teens or later that these children develop related symptoms such as mental disability and hearing loss.

What is the treatment for toxoplasmosis?

The main prescription medicine to treat toxoplasmosis is called Daraprim.

In 2015 “Turing Pharmaceuticals bought the rights to distribute Daraprim and the news of a 5,000% OVERNIGHT spike -from $13.50 to $750/pill, shocked the world.

There was no explanation offered to substantiate this monumental rise in cost.

Besides the tremendously high costs, pharmaceuticals used for treating Toxoplasma gondii have dangerous side effects. The list is long... among them are, “blood problems,” low red blood cell count and signs of serious infection.

Herbs to naturally support parasite cleansing

The good news is that Nature has provided many natural substances that can help your body rid itself of parasites including Toxoplasma gondii,  roundworm, pinworms, hookworms, and Giardia.

Two of the best herbs for getting rid of parasites are mimosa pudica and black walnut

Mimosa pudica

You know those plants with leaves that close up or droop when touched? Theso-called, “shy” plants.

Mimosa pudica is one of them —  a powerhouse, anti-parasitic plant. It has an impressive pharmacological profile. Ancient medicine has used this plant for over 3,000 years for treating everything from asthma to leprosy, dysentery to uterine problems.

Mimosa pudica is also known to paralyze parasites and rid the human body of them.

Two studies, one in 2012 and one published in the International Journal of Biochemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2018, found mimosa pudica extracts paralyzed and killed worms as effectively as a common anti-parasitic medicine, albendazole. It’s listed in a 2003 book called the “Handbook of Medicinal Plants”.

Black walnut hull powder

Black walnut is also a recognized anti-parasitic remedy, especially in Europe and the Middle East. In fact, it’s been used for ridding the body of parasites since Archaic Greece and Roman times.

This medicinal compound contains the phytochemical “Juglone”, thought to be the main component that causes parasites to die and to be expelled.

Other beneficial herbs and substances to combine with these natural parasite medicines are:

  • Humic and fulvic acids - known for their powerful ability to help balance and heal the gut, as well as to facilitate detoxification

  • Wormwood - contains artemisinin, which helps cleanse the body of harmful organisms such as parasites, and supports both liver and digestive health.

  • Neem leaf - supports parasite removal, and boosts immune function, gastrointestinal health, and detoxification. Also promotes skin and liver and health

  • Triphala powder - another ancient medicinal herb, Triphala helps support detoxification, reduce inflammation, and fight free radicals and oxidative stress, as well as supporting and cleansing the digestive tract.

Other ingredients known to support your body in a parasite cleanse include: clove, aloe vera, and garlic extract.
